DIY: Old Wood

As some of you might not know my husband is a painter some of the privileges of this is I get custom made art. I had this idea of using his style of art on an old pieces of wood to hang as art on the wall. Its hard to come by old looking wood so we decided to make it ourselves and this is what we came up with. ( you can use this idea to make many thing this is just what I wanted to do.)

  • Wood of choice
  • Nails
  • White Acrylic paint
  • Hammer
  • Minwax in dark walnut
  • Steel Wool grade 1
  • Paint Brush

So you first want to paint the wood with the Minwax Stain.

Then you want to make indentation on it using a hammer and a nail, to make it look used and beat up.
The next step is to lightly go over the board with the white acrylic paint.

And lastly you want to go over it with the steel wool and re apply the minwax over the whitest parts.
